Dr.Marcel Junod Memorial
June 14th Sunday, Dr.Marcel Junod memorial was held in front of his monument in Hiroshima Peace Park.
Dr.Marcel Junod was a Swiss doctor and he came to Hiroshima September 8th 1945, just after the atomic bombing, as a correspondent of the International Committee of the Red Cross. He let GHQ send 15 tons of medicine for atomic bonbing survivors and he himself treated injured people. It is said his action saved 10,000 lives of Hiroshima citizens.
We selebrate him every second Sunday in June.
Hiroshima Boys Choir sang some songs at the ceremony.
This year Dr.Marcel Junod's son, Benoit Junod
and his family participated the ceremony.
